Week 02 - My Purpose, My destiny

Monday 7 March

  • Father, we are your people, called by your name. We humble ourselves with fasting. We pray and we seek your face determined to depart from all of our wicked ways so that you will hear from heaven and forgive our sins and heal and restore our lives and our land (2 Chron 7:14, Ps 69:20).
  • Father, we put first things first. We repent of every thought and every act, towards you and towards people - Family, Friends, colleagues, strangers that do not please you and that might be standing between us and you. Show us what we need to do differently so we can bring forth fruit in keeping with repentance. (Is 58:1-5. Matt 15:8-9, Matt 3:8).
  • Father, we desire to return to you with all our hearts so we repent of everything that has stood as an idol in our lives (even though we may not call it that). Show us what these are so we can put them away. As we seek you in prayer and fasting, we turn our hearts towards you. We obey you alone. (1 Sam 7:3-9)
  • Just like the people of Nineveh, we believe your words and so we proclaim a fast to seek you with repentance (Jonah 3:5).
  • Father, you are the Lord who doesn’t change. So we expect that just as you did with the people of Nineveh you will look upon our fasting with mercy and will relent and will not allow the punishment we deserve to come upon us. (Jonah 3:10).

Tuesday 8 March

  • Today I remember whose child I am - I am a child of the living God, the God who made the heavens and the earth. I am His child, made in His image and after His likeness (Gen 1:1; John 1:12).
  • I am not a mistake nor was I born without purpose. I was born on purpose. I am His workmanship, His masterpiece, created in Christ Jesus for good works which He has prepared in advance for me to do. (Eph 2:10)
  • I am special. God chose me. He chose me and has appointed and ordained me to be fruitful and productive and that in this way I will bring glory to His name. (John 15:16).
  • I and my church family are a chosen people, royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession and we are chosen to show others the goodness of God. Before, we had no identity as a people, but now we are God’s people. (1 Pet 2:9-10).

Wednesday 9 March

  • My destiny is assured. I am predestined to be under the lordship of Jesus. I am no longer under the lordship or control of satan. I am predestined to be like Jesus in every way. (Rom 10:9-10, Col 1:13; Rom 8:29).
  • Even if I have failed in times past. I will not let this bog me down or hold me back. I am marching forward. For I know that all things work together for my good because I love God and I am called according to His purpose. (Rom 8:28-30).
  • I declare by the power of the Holy Spirit, that I am marching forward in my God-ordained purpose. My steps are ordered by the Lord. (Ps 37:23-24).
  • Even if I fall, I will not be utterly cast down for the LORD upholds me with his hand. (Ps 37:23-24). So, rejoice not against me, O mine enemy for when I fall, I shall arise. When I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be my light, my guide. (Micah 7:8).
  • This Lent is a season of restoration for me. My God is restoring the years that the locust, cankerworm, caterpillar and palmerworm have stolen. Lost years, lost opportunities, lost possessions are being restored (Joel 2:25). The glory of the latter house is surely becoming greater than the former. In this temple, I have peace (Hag 2:9, Phil 4:7).

Thursday 10 March

  • Father, circumstances are trying to tell us that we do not have the power we need to overcome.  WE KNOW THIS IS NOT TRUE. (Ps 42:2-4, Rom 3:4).

  • We have all the power we need for victory in the person of the Holy Spirit and the word of God.  We received all the power needed when the Holy Spirit came upon us. The power is in us now  (Act 1:8, 2 Pet 1:3-4).

  • However, we recognise that there are “gaps” between the measure of power manifested in our lives today and that promised and seen in the book of Acts. In our learning, we are seeing that there is a connection between praying in the Holy Spirit and the manifestation of your power.  Lord, as we commit to praying in the spirit over Lent, help us to bridge any “gaps”. (Act 1:8;Act 2:4;Act 4:31).

  • It is our desire to be effective witnesses for your glory. We cannot do this without the help and power of the Holy Spirit. (Act 1:8). We desire and are asking for more of the manifestation of your power, the manifestations of your spirit - the gifts of the Spirit.  (1 Cor 14:1).

  • In Jesus' name, I see myself going into the world and preaching the gospel, healing the sick, cleansing the lepers, raising the dead and casting out devils. Freely we have received and freely we give. (Matt 10:7-9).

Friday 11 March

  • Father, I desire to grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus.  I know that this growth comes as I immerse myself in your word and prayer.  ( 2 Peter 3:18, 1 Pet 2:2).

  • Father, I ask therefore that you give me more of the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that I may know you better. I pray that the eyes of my heart may be enlightened in order that I may know the hope to which you have called me (your plan) and the depth of the riches of what you have invested in me (my true worth and value).

  • Help me to see and understand (grasp spiritually)  that I now have working in and for me the incomparably great power of the Holy Spirit -  the same power that raised Christ from the dead. (power in me). (Eph 1:17-23, Rom 8:11 ).

  • Father, I pray that you fill me with the knowledge of your will in all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives so that I may live a life worthy of the Lord Jesus and please him in every way:

  • bearing fruit in every good work, and growing in the knowledge of you: being strengthened with all power according to your glorious might and having great endurance and patience. (Col 1:9-11)

Saturday 12  March

  • Father, I believe, help thou my unbelief! (Mark 9:24).    I come against every form or source of unbelief that has hindered my mustard seed faith from moving mountains.

  • I am ready to do anything to drive it out. Holy Spirit show me what I need to do and how I need to do it. With you all things are possible. Nothing is impossible and anything can happen.  I open up myself to the realities of your illimitable possibilities. (John 16:13,Matt 19:26, Mark 9:23;Matt 17:20-21).

  • Father, today I hear your voice, I will not harden my heart. I will not let unbelief hinder me from entering into the rest of your promises.  (Heb 4:4-7, Mark 16:14(.

  • Father, I can see that there still remains a Sabbath rest for me. I, therefore, strive to enter this rest. I will not fall after the examples of unbelief. (Heb 4:10-11).

  • Father, I will not lose hope in your promises coming to pass in my life. I am determined to trust you forever.  You are faithful to your promises. (Heb 10:23).

  • I am not weak in faith.   I consider not my own body or any other circumstances contrary to the promises of God. I stagger not at the promises of God through unbelief. I am strong in faith and continuously give glory and praise to God for what He is doing.

  • I am fully persuaded that what God has promised (in his word and to my spirit) he will perform. (Rom 4:19-21).

Sunday 13 March

  • Lord we say that whilst we have dreams, visions and aspirations our number one goal will always be to please You and bring glory to Your name and not to satisfy self or for self-glory.

  • Help us to be honest with ourselves regarding motive because we know the heart of man can be deceitful. (Matthew 6:33, 2 Corinthians 5:9,10, Psalm 51:10

  • Father, We are Your representatives, we were designed to show what You look like here in the world, to reflect Your character. When in positions of authority, help us carry out the work we’ve been given with excellence.  (Col 3:24, 2 Cor 5:20).

  • Help us do our work well, respecting our employers, remembering that “we are serving the Lord Jesus Christ,” not men.

  • Help us to function in a spirit of excellence that keeps us from errors or mistakes  (Dan 6:3)

  • Thank You, Lord, that the fulfilment of our dreams, plans and aspirations are not limited by the thoughts and words others have spoken over us. Neither are they limited by our ethnicity, gender or education.

  • Lord we confidently come before You now, making direct, clear requests known to You, be with us Lord in all that we desire.  We understand that You already know what is in our hearts but we speak it out now!  And like Jabez, we say, And God granted our request.  (1 Chron 4:9-10)

  • Father, You have a way in which You desire us to do things, a right way, a righteous way. In Your Word, You have told us that we are to commit our actions to you, and our plans will succeed and be established. Thank You for this dream filter. We do this now in Jesus' name.  (Proverbs 16:3)

  • You have also told us in Your Word, to delight ourselves in You and You will give us the desires and secret petitions of our heart. Forgive us for not having made this a priority in the past, Our hearts truly find peace and satisfaction in You, Your will and Your ways. (Psalm 37:4,5).
