Our Young Adults

Monday 4 April – The Character and Qualities of our Young Adults

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus we thank You for our young adults.  Thank You that during and beyond this fast their relationship with You is on a deeper level (Philippians 3:10).

  • We come before You regarding their character.  This is the currency with which they trade in all aspects of life – especially in their relationship with You (Philippians 2:22).

  • Holy Spirit, You are their Helper (John 14:16). Help our young men to be sober-minded in all things and circumstances (Titus 2:6).

  • Remind our young men to demonstrate a consistent pattern of good works, to pay attention to sound doctrine only, to always act with integrity and to show reverence and respect where due (Titus 2:7).  Where peer pressure rises, help them to remain incorruptible.

  • May they always have sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that anyone who opposes their faith in Christ may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say of them (Titus 2:8).

  • Likewise, may the young women find Godly, older peers to teach them how to be temperate, to have respect for themselves and others, to be self-controlled, sound in faith, in love and in endurance (Titus 2:2).

  • Holy Spirit, help our young women to give deep thought as to how they conduct themselves and live their lives.  Help them to surround themselves with other Godly young women who are of a good report (Titus 2:3).

  • Give them the desire to marry and have children - not to make career choices and personal ambition their only focus (Titus 2:4-5).

Tuesday 5 April – Their Purpose

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus we thank You for Your plans and purpose for every young adult in the OLCC family (Jeremiah 29:11, Psalms 138:8).

  • Holy Spirit, teach them that whilst they may have big plans in their hearts, to check that they align with God’s plans for them, as from the Lord comes the proper answer of the tongue (Proverbs 16:1).

  • Cause them to truly judge the motives behind their choices and decisions because a person’s ways seem pure to them, but motives are weighed by the Lord (Proverbs 16:2).

  • Teach them to commit to the Lord whatever they do and He will establish their plans and purpose (Proverbs 16:3).

Wednesday 6 April – Their Relationship with Christ Jesus

  • Lord Jesus, help our Young Adults see that You are the only Way, the Truth and the Life (John 14:6).

  • Help them to know that it is in You that they truly become alive,  move and exist – thereby confirming that they are here on purpose (Acts 17:28).

  • Give them a deeper understanding of Your love for them, so that they may know You and the power of Your resurrection, and the fellowship Your sufferings (Colossians 2:2-3, Philippians 3:10 NKJV).

  • Where they have missed the mark, we ask that You prick their consciences to seek You in repentance (1 Timothy 4:2, 2 Corinthians 7:10).

  • We thank You for keeping them on the right track – that they will never depart from You all their lives (Proverbs 22:6).

Thursday 7 April – Their Relationship with their Families

  • Father, we thank You that our young adults continue to remember that family is important – both natural and spiritual (Ephesians 6:1-3, Psalms 133:1-3).

  • Help them to fight to keep the bond of unity in their families – to forgive quickly, to love with all their hearts, to be open to correction and be led by the Holy Spirit at all times (Ephesians 4:1-3).

  • Where we as parents or carers have been a source of hurt and pain for them with our words and actions, we repent and ask You Holy Spirit to make a bridge of healing and reconciliation (Ephesians 6:4, Nehemiah 4:14, 2 Corinthians 5:18).

  • Likewise, where their behaviour or lifestyle has been a source of pain and frustration for their parents and carers, help us to get to the root of the issue(s) in order to drive it out in Jesus' Name (Mark 11:14,20). We resist you satan in the Name of Jesus!

Friday 8 April March – Seeking Godly Spouses

  • Father, Your Word is clear that none who desire to marry will lack their mate (Isaiah 34:16).  May this be the desire of our young adults – not to just date or to cohabit, but to marry (Proverbs 18:22)!

  • Help them Holy Spirit to make Godly choices when dating and choosing their spouses (Romans 8:14).  Teach them their roles in their relationships and what to bring to the table – not Hollywood movie expectations but Godly expectations.

  • Help them to remember that they are not just going to marry their spouse and live in isolation – they are marrying the family, as they become one flesh (Ruth 1:16).

  • We declare there will be unity in their marriages – they will compatible spiritually, mentally, relationally, emotionally, physically, socially, academically, financially and sexually in the Name of Jesus (Mark 11:23).

Saturday 9 April - Their Mental Health

  • Father, we are very aware of the plans of the enemy to kill, steal and destroy us (John 10:10).  We thank You for the Zoe-life in Your Word and the Name of Jesus!!

  • We come against the weapons being used on the minds of our young adults and declare they will not prosper in Jesus' Name (Isaiah 54:17).

  • We come against destructive, damaging thoughts and proclaim that God will keep them in perfect peace as their minds stay on Him (Isaiah 26:3).

  • We decree that they will use the mighty weapons of warfare given to them which are not carnal (2 Corinthians 10:3-5). Thank You that they do not have a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).

Sunday 10 April March – Their Friends

  • Lord Jesus, we thank You for Your examples of fellowship and friendship throughout the Bible (John 15:13, Proverbs 18:24).

  • We declare that these examples will be the template used by our young adults.  They will make wise choices regarding their friends, as bad company is destructive (Proverbs 13:20, 1 Corinthians 15:33). We reject negative influences in the Name of Jesus!

  • Thank You that these friendships will be wholesome, healthy, supportive, uplifting and encouraging.  Where there are differences/conflict, they will use Godly wisdom and counsel to resolve them (James 3:17).

  • We thank You for answered prayer in Jesus' Name (1 John 5:14-15).
